Soul stance~Tom Blake pioneered water photography that enabled him to capture the style of Island-born surfers at their best on the waves of Waikiki with Diamond Head in the background. Blake was delighted when he developed the negative for this shot in 1931 – he said he felt honoured to have captured the soulful essence of Hawaiian surfing on film.
